Mogadishu (SD) – Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre said he is determined that the country’s elections will be held on time, and that he will do his best to do so.
Prime Minister Kheyre made the remarks at a online Cabinet meeting of the held yesterday.
“From today, we have to work as a government to ensure a vote that’s peaceful, stable and includes all Somalis,” Prime Minister Kheyre said.
The PM added that timely elections contributes to political stability in the country, which could go away if left unprotected.
“To hold an expectable elections is the most important objective in order to maintain political stability in the country, and that is the only way to safeguard all of our achievements”. said Kheyre.
The PM added “The argument that every four years in this country has an acceptable election, regardless of what type it is, is what has given us legitimacy, so we must protect it.”
Kheyre’s statement comes amid reports that the him and president differ on the election issues in the country.
