PM Roble gets the National Consultative Assembly and Candidates Union talking about elections

Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble, tonight chaired an online meeting of the National Consultative Assembly that focused on electoral issues.

The Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) briefed the meeting on the delays in the election schedule, the transparency of the elections and the co-operation required from the Heads of State.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Union of Candidates including former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Wadajir Party Leader Abdirahman Abdishakur.

The opposition candidates called on the Heads of the National Consultative Assembly to rectify the shortcomings in the electoral process and the need for transparency in the elections.

After lengthy discussions, members of the National Consultative Assembly agreed to expedite the holding of elections and for the National Consultative Assembly to convene soon to discuss the completion of the elections.
