Somaliland: Minister of Religious Affairs dismisses Abaarso University spreading Christianity

Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s Minister of Religion and Endowment, Abdirizak Hussein Albani, has dismissed allegations by Abdimalik Muse Oldon that Christianity was being propagated by Barwaqo University and Abaarso Network schools.

The Minister addressing the issues since his appointment by the President of Somaliland, Mr. Albani said that he was very proud of the girls studying at Abaarso University and said that they will benefit the country and it’s people.

“We are very proud that an the institution will produce educated girls, that would be useful to their country, to their children, and they will certainly carry that knowledge well,” Albani said.

Albany, meanwhile, dismissed Oldon’s allegations as baseless, saying, “The propaganda that girls are being converted to Islam at this school, or that Christianity is being taught, is not true.”

Abdimalik Muse Oldon, an activist and a journalist, is currently languishing in jail on charges of spreading propaganda about the Barwaqo University, Abaarso School administration and parents.
