PM: Somalia Ripe for Blue Economy investment

MOGADISHU (SD) -The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, has inaugurated the Blue Economy Conference in Somalia, which showcases the economic opportunities of the country’s marine resources.

The Prime Minister urged both domestic and international investors to capitalize on the abundant economic opportunities within Somalia’s maritime sector. He emphasized that Somalia is actively working towards the exploration and extraction of its marine resources to boost the country’s economy, contributing to sustainable economic development.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the challenges posed by conflicts in the country, which had previously hampered the utilization of the country’s resources. However, he highlighted that Somalia has now reached a stage where it is prepared to engage in commerce and harness the potential benefits of its maritime assets. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a conducive legal framework for the country’s maritime sector.

The conference, scheduled to last for two days, is attended by ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia, regional state ministers, ambassadors, and international companies specializing in maritime activities.
