Hargeisa (SD) – The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Mohamed Aden Saqadhi Dabagale, confirmed this morning that the police had killed a lion that had escaped from a ranch owned by Ali Mohamed Waranade.
Somaliland police said they were searching for one of Ali Waranade’s lions who has escaped, the Somaliland police chief told local media.
The escaped lion from the Ali Waranade’s ranch last night and injured two people, according to Brigadier General Mohamed Saqadhi Dabagale.
A woman who was seriously injured by Ali Waranade’s escaped lion last night has been admitted to Hargeisa General Hospital.
The commander told local media this morning that the police have been searching for the lion since last night and injured a woman after it escaped from the ranch.
The police chief told Hargeisa residents that the nation’s capital was safe and that the rumors surrounding the lion’s escape were over.
The capital residents addressed the killing of lion in various ways, some hoping for it’s capture while others are demanding accountability.
“Prosecutors should conduct an investigation to determine whether the owner of the lions in a residential area and near restaurant has committed a crime. Somaliland has laws in this regard.: said Guled Dafac, a prominent Somaliland lawyer.
This is the third time a lion escaped from a Waranade’s ranch attacking people in Hargeisa.
