President Bihi bids farewell to 33 students who won scholarships to Taiwan.

Hargeisa (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today held a farewell ceremony with the winners of a scholarship competition awarded by Taiwan to Somaliland.

The farewell ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace, and was attended by members of the Cabinet, the Chairman of the Somaliland Higher Education Commission, the Ambassadors of Somaliland and Taiwan to the two scholarship winners and their parents.

There were speeches of encouragement to the students, and thanks to the dedicated parents and Taiwan for their Scholarships.

Taiwan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Somaliland, Amb. Allen Chenhwa Lou talked about the deep ties between Somaliland and Taiwan and the value of the scholarships offered to the students, and urged the successful members to take advantage of the opportunity.

Former BBC correspondent Ahmed Said Egeh, speaking on behalf of the parents, expressed his gratitude for the scholarships and urged them to excel in the free education.

Abdirahman Hussein Muse speaking on behalf of the scholarship recipients, welcomed the opportunity and pledged his commitment as students to making it a success.

The Ministers of Education and Science and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno) and Dr. Issa Keyd Mohamud, both encouraged them to be ambassadors representing their nation, and make the scholarships they received a success.

The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, concluded the farewell ceremony by congratulating the scholarship winners and urging them to benefit from the scholarships.

The President of Somaliland, promised the students that the government will provide airline tickets for students who are partially paying for their scholarships.
