HARGEISA (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today, 17 days later, distributed cash donated to business people who recently lost their property in the Waheen market fire.
The distribution ceremony at the presidential palace was attended by the Waheen market traders’ committee, and some of the traders whose business is valued between $ 73 and $ 5,000.
The Deputy Mayor of Hargeisa, Khadar Ahmed Omar, praised the President’s move to donate money to the bankrupted traders in the market, who today became the first recipients of the donated funds to resume their businesses.
Traders who spoke on behalf of the members who received the money today, praised the move to deliver the money, making them the first to receive the money to restart their business again.
Today’s disbursement amounts of $ 1,872,511, with 988 people receiving undisclosed individual amount.
The Somaliland government received millions of donated dollars, but today paid out less then 1% of it.
