Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, held a ceremony honoring Ahmed Mohamed Hassan (Ahmed Dheere), a senior pilot in Siyad Barre’s government air force who refused to carry out an order to bomb Hargeisa.
The ceremony organized by President Muse Bihi Abdi, was held last night at the presidential palace in Hargeisa to commemorate the important role of pilot Ahmed Mohamed Hassan in the history of the Somali people, it was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Somaliland, members of the Government, politicians, military commanders and other dignitaries.
Speeches commemorating the decision of pilot Ahmed Mohamed Hassan to save the Somali people in Hargeisa were made at the ceremony, for disregarding the bombing order of the city.
The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, concluded the ceremony by expressing his deepest gratitude to Chief Pilot Ahmed Mohamed Hassan, and described him as an smart and a brave hero who took a firm stand and saved thousands of lives and their property.
President Bihi presented the pilot with a Somaliland Diplomatic Passport, pilot Ahmed Dheere was also presented with a patch of land were a house will be build for him.
