President Farmajo and regional leaders held election talks

Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, and the Presidents of the country’s Regional States, with the Governor of Benadir Region, met again last night at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.

Sources close to the attendees said an understanding has been reached on the formation of three electoral commissions, namely; the Federal Electoral Commission, the State Electoral Commission, and the Dispute Resolution Committee.

These committees will be appointed by President Farmajo, but will include members appointed by the regional administrations.

The conference comes days after the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia ratified an Agreement on the National Electoral Process, which was reached in Mogadishu by the Heads of the Federal Government and State Governments, along with the Benadir Regional Administration.
