MOGADISHU (SD)-A government press release announced that more than 19 Al-Shabaab members were killed in joint operations conducted by the Somali National Army (SNA) and international partners in the Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions.
The first operation, which lasted over 24 hours, took place in the village of Geed Ma’arke, under Ruunirgood District, where Al-Shabaab fighters were preparing for an attack. In this operation, 14 Al-Shabaab members were killed.
The second operation targeted an Al-Shabaab checkpoint in the Ceel Heelle area, where they were extorting travelers. Five Al-Shabaab members were killed in this attack.
Additionally, the operation in Ceel Heelle destroyed military vehicles that the militants had taken from the first operation site, including an armored vehicle known as “Abdi-Bile” and a water tanker.
The Somali National Army, supported by the international partners, has intensified its operations against Al-Shabaab, with the government committed to eradicating the terrorist group.
