President Hassan asks troops to join the fight against Al Shabaab

Mogadishu January 02, 2023 (SD) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today visited the General Gordan camp in Mogadishu, where Somali forces trained in Eritrea are based, and informed them to prepare to participate in the war to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab.

The president shared the hopes of his government and the Somali people for the troops to complete the eradication of the militants from the country.

“I and the Somali people are happy for your return. From today onwards, we will prepare and move to face the enemy. We want the new operation to liberate the remaining areas to be faster than the previous ones, to be completed in a short period of time,” said Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, thanked the Eritrean government for its support to the people and the Somali government during the difficult time of the liberation of the country.

The Somali troops trained in Eretria were a source of controversies while in that country, but were recently returned and are yet to be utilized.
