MUQDISHU (SD)-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, addressed a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Saturday, delivering a speech covering various topics.
President Hassan Sheikh told the parliament that Somalia and Ethiopia are neighbouring countries with a complex history that has not always been peaceful.
In his speech, Hassan Sheikh mentioned that Ethiopia occupies Somali land given to it by colonial powers, and it now seeks additional territory along the Somali borders.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stated in his address to the Somali parliament that his government does not believe that the withdrawal of Ethiopian forces from Somali territory would necessarily lead to the capture of these areas by the al-Shabaab organization.
