Washington December 12, 2022 (SD) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Washington, where he is going to participate in the US-Africa Leaders summit.
The three-day summit invited 50 African leaders and will focus on the development of further partnerships between the United States and the African continent.
“deepening and expanding the long-term U.S.-Africa partnership and advancing our shared priorities, amplifying African voices to collaboratively meet this era’s defining challenges,” a senior administration official said.
The United States is concerned about the growing Chinese and Russian expansion into Africa and US President Joe Biden is now proposing a permanent spot for the African Union in the G20.
President Hassan is also scheduled to visit the city of Minneapolis where the majority of Somalis live in the United States.
