Mogadishu December 20, 2022 (SD) Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has announced that the Somali forces trained in Eritrea will start returning to the war-torn country this month.
The Somali troops have been in Eritrea for almost three years. The president made the announcement at a question-and-answer session organized by the Somali community in Minneapolis.
It is not yet known why the Somali troops stayed in Eretria for so long after completing their training.
The president’s statement comes at a time when the Somali government, with the help of the local people, is at war with al-Shabaab.
