ASMARA (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Asmara on an official visit to Eritrea.

Hassan Sheikh is scheduled to meet with the President of Eritrea, Mr. Isaias Afwerki, as stated in a statement released by Villa Somalia.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the recent tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia and the latest developments in the Horn of Africa.

This visit marks the fifth time President Hassan Sheikh has traveled to Eritrea since taking office just over two years ago.

Eritrea is one of Somalia’s friendly nations that provides military training, with a contingent of trained soldiers returning to Somalia. Another group is still undergoing training in the country.
