HARGEISA (SD) -The Somaliland Senate known as Guurti has today approved the electoral law amendments for the joint elections of the political organizations and the president, in a session held after a long hiatus.

The House of Elders made significant changes to the electoral laws, introducing modifications and adjustments in certain aspects.

The opposition parties in Somaliland had strongly advocated for the amendment of this law, deeming it crucial for the conduct of fair and transparent presidential elections.

It is hoped that the elections for the Political organizations and the presidency which have been long delayed will be held in Somaliland at the end of this year 2024.
