KISMAYO (SD) – Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam met with EU Ambassadors to Somalia to discuss the ATMIS plan to replace the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
The regional president said that the security situation in Somalia is deteriorating and there is no coordination on security in the country.
Ahmed Madobe said that the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) had done a good job in the beginning liberating many parts of the country. However, in recent years it became stagnant and ineffective due to the Federal Government, troop contributing countries and donors.
He accused the federal government of failing to coordinate national security and using government forces for political purposes, which is a major factor in the security situation in Somalia.
Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam said that the fight against Al-Shabaab can be won through the coordination of the Somali security forces and a joint operation across the country.
