Somalia’s Budget exceeds a Billion and Half

MOGADISHU (SD) – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in a meeting held today, has unanimously approved the government’s budget for the fiscal year 2024, totaling $1,025,687,991 (One Billion Twenty-Five Million, Six Hundred Eighty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred Ninety-One U.S. Dollars).

The government’s budget for this year exceeds one billion dollars, representing an increase of over 20%. This budget is of significant importance as it is crucial for national security and the development of public services.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, who chaired the meeting, stated that the budget reflects the needs and priorities of the country. With the increased budget, the government aims to enhance the provision of services to the Somali people.

Additionally, the Council also ratified bills related to Ports, Scholarships and Quality Standards, and the Audit and Verification of Fuel and Gas Quality Standards in the country.
