Galkayo (SD) – Mudug Regional Police Commander Mumin Abdi Shire, has for the first time, gave details of a planned police operation in Galkayo, which resulted in the capture of an al-Shabaab network.
Commander Mumin, in an interview with the BBC Somali Service, confirmed the capture of a seven al-Shabaab members, who have carried out various killings and bombings in Galkayo since 2018.
He also said that the arrested members had all confessed to being members of Al-Shabaab and had carried out bombings and assassinations of officials in Galkayo since 2018.
“The network we have arrested is seven members, including two princes, who have admitted to carrying out bombings and assassinations in Galkayo since 2018 and killing government officials,” said Commander Mumin.
Commander Mumin Abdi Shire, also said that they will take the arrested Al Shabab members to military court for legal action.
