GAROWE(SD)-Today, officials from Puntland and Galmudug have successfully brought together elders and representatives of two clans recently engaged in conflict in the western Mudug Region.

Officials from Galmudug and Puntland, including lawmakers, ministers overseeing regional and district administrations, and military commanders, have achieved a significant breakthrough in a preliminary peace process.

Puntland’s Minister of Finance, Mohamed Farah Mohamed, posted on his Facebook page, detailing the successful mediation efforts aimed at facilitating dialogue to resolve the conflict in western Mudug.

“We have succeeded in bringing together elders from both brotherly clans to initiate dialogue aimed at resolving the conflict in western Mudug Region,” stated Puntland’s Minister of Finance.

This development comes days after both sides agreed to cease hostilities following clashes that resulted in the deployment of regional forces to the affected areas in the western Mudug Region.
