Garowe (SD) – Puntland Regional State of Somalia in a released statement responded to Somalia President’s call for a consultative meeting be held in Garowe on February 15th.
Puntland welcomed the election consultative meeting convened by President Farmajo, although it said it had not been consulted with and that the conference should be held in Mogadishu.
“Puntland welcomes the conference convened on Feb 15, Although there was no consultation to hold the meeting in Garowe. As the term of the Federal Government of Somalia (FSG) expired, it recommends that the conference be held in Mogadishu with the participation of political stakeholders and the international community, ”the statement said.
Somali President Mohamed Farmajo convened a meeting last night between the heads of state and the Benadir region, to complete the implementation of the agreement reached in Mogadishu on September 17, 2020.
Somalia Federal Government has not yet responded to Puntland’s objection to President Farmajo’s announcement of a conference in Garowe on the 15th of this month, It is not known if the government will consider Puntland’s suggestion to hold the conference in Mogadishu.
