Garowe (SD) – Puntland Minister of Information Ali Hassan Ahmed Sabarey, confirmed that the government of Puntland failed to close their borders with Somaliland and Ethiopia, as to control the spread of Covid-19.

Minister Sabarey made the announcement at the Puntland Committee for the Prevention of Coronavirus press briefing.

The Regional minister said he personally visited parts of Sool region recently and witnessed the road connecting Puntland to Somaliland is open.

He recommended Puntland send special troops and close the border. The Puntland border with Ethiopia is open as well.

Both border crossings have seen elevated number of traffic since the closer announcement by the Puntland Committee for the Prevention of Coronavirus.
