Puntland Parliament to discuss the ongoing situation between SSC-Khatumo and Puntland

GAROWE (SD) -The 56th session of Puntland’s House of Representatives will open this Sunday, June 15, in Garowe city.

The opening ceremony will feature a constitutional address by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, who is expected to speak about his administration’s accomplishments, the ongoing fight against terrorism, and current political affairs in Somalia.

During this parliamentary session, lawmakers are scheduled to discuss several key agenda items, including the ongoing situation between SSC-Khatumo and Puntland, restructuring of Puntland’s administrative power-sharing system, border demarcation issues,
human trafficking concerns and government accountability measures.

This parliamentary session comes at a time when the traditional elder, Garaad Jama Garaad Ali of SSC, has recently announced plans to convene a major conference. The proposed gathering aims to bring together the founders of Puntland from 1998 to discuss and redefine the future relationship between Puntland and SSC-Khatumo in terms of geographical boundaries, political arrangements, and clan-based power-sharing structures.

The session opens amid ongoing discussions about the political and administrative future of the region.
