Turkish Daesh fighter captured in Somalia

BOSSASO (SD) – Puntland’s defense forces today, Saturday, captured a foreign national belonging to the Daesh (ISIS) group, who had been hiding in the Ballade mountains, part of the Almiskad range.

The man captured by Puntland’s forces is originally from Turkey and was found fetching water from a well in the Baallade mountains. He was holding an AK-47 rifle at the time of his capture, according to reports from Puntland defense officials.

“The 3rd Unit of Puntland’s Defense Forces has captured a terrorist originally from Turkey, who is a member of the Daesh group. The man was apprehended while alone, fetching water from a well and armed with an AK-47, but no other group members were found,” read a brief statement released by the third unit.

The captured foreign national has been transferred to a special Puntland military base, where he was interrogated about his affiliation with Daesh and the severe setbacks the group is currently facing.
