BOSSASO (SD) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni today welcomed the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, and his delegation in Bossaso, according to Puntland’s presidential office.

The meeting was attended by Puntland’s Minister of Energy, Minerals, and Water, Liban Muse Boqor, and the State Minister of the Presidency, Abdifatah Mohamed Abdinur.

During their discussions, President Deni and Ambassador Wang Yu addressed Somalia’s political situation, the ongoing development in Puntland, and how China could support the region through various projects.

President Deni expressed gratitude for the Chinese ambassador’s visit and urged China to support Puntland’s development projects that benefit its people and local communities.

Relations between Somalia’s federal government and Puntland have been strained over the past two years. As a result, President Deni has been engaging directly with international representatives to discuss Puntland’s situation and secure support.
