Puntland Representatives criticize Feds over amendments

GAROWE (SD) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Puntland regional administration, Abdulrazak Ahmed Said, and the Second Deputy Speaker, Mohamed Mahmoud Essa, chaired today’s 22nd meeting of the 55th Assembly.

This session discussed important issues, including the federal system and an action they deemed illegal regarding the amendment of the 2012 Constitution.

The Puntland House of Representatives accused the Federal Government of violating the agreed-upon Constitution, stating that the amendments were made illegally.

The Speaker of the Puntland House of Representatives added that unauthorized amendments could lead to conflict and division.

The House emphasized that these actions could harm the agreed-upon federal system.

“In order to find a lasting solution, the House of Representatives decided that the debate and recommendations on this matter should be entrusted to a special committee to provide advice on the federal issues of Somalia and report back to the Puntland House of Representatives,” said the statement from the Puntland Parliament.
