GAROWE (SD) -Today residents of various districts within the Puntland administration headed to the polls for a one-person-one-vote election, participating in a process to elect local council members.
Three districts in the Nugal region, namely Dangoronyo, Garowe, and Godobjiran, saw voters lining up early in the morning to cast their ballots. These districts had previously postponed their elections due to significant conflicts that prevented the elections from taking place. However, today, the residents were able to participate in the polls that were previously missed.
Initially, elections were planned for 37 districts across Puntland. However, elections in the three districts above were delayed due to election materials being seized by angry individuals and political disputes in some areas.
Today’s peaceful and organized turnout marks a significant step towards ensuring that Dangoronyo, Garowe, and Godobjiran residents can exercise their democratic rights and elect their local representatives.
