Garowe (SD) – A military court in Puntland regional state has sentenced two al-Shabaab members to death and life in prison for terrorism-related offenses.
Puntland has convicted these al-Shabaab members following terrorist incidents in Puntland between March and July of this year.
The court sentenced Mohamed Mohamed Said to death for allegedly admitting to organizing al-Shabaab attacks for months and leading the recruitment of youths to join al-Shabaab.
Four other al-Shabaab members have been sentenced to various prison terms for their crimes, according to a military court. Three of them were sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Al-Shabaab has intensified its attacks in Puntland, including the killings of governors of Nugal and Mudug regions.
