GAROWE (SD) – The Minister of Interior Affairs of Puntland Mohamed Abdirahman Dhabanad announced that in the coming days elected local councils will be convened in all of their three constituencies.

Speaking at the PDRC research center in Garowe, Minister Dhabanad stated that the minor challenges that have delayed the completion of the three district elections have now been resolved.

The Minister pointed out that the elections in the districts which were one person – one vote were magnificent and transparent after the government gave the autonomy of the election to the Puntland Transitional Electoral Commission (TPEC).

Puntland held the local three district election in last August but has been unable in to follow through with the process.

The opposition and the former leadership of the regional election commission both critizesed the regional government in impeding the process.
