Galkayo (SD) – The governor of Puntland’s Mudug region, Abdilatif Muse Nur, has strongly warned against tribes in the Mudug region to have links with al-Shabaab.
The Governor said that there are reports that some Mudug clans are now entering into agreements with Al-Shabaab, strongly warning against anyone who took such a step.
“It is said that some clans are now entering into agreements with Al-Shabaab, you’re hanging on to an overturned vehicle, any clan that reconciled with Al-Shabaab, know you’re in the wrong. ” said the Mudug Governor.
He also said the government would take action against any clan found to have entered into an agreement with al-Shabaab, and they would be treated like al-Shabaab.
“Anyone who is found to have entered into an agreement with al-Shabaab, whether it is a large clan or an individual, will be marked as al-Shabaab, and we will not treat them as we would treat a clan,” he added.
Mudug region of Puntland state has recently been battling Al Shabaab militants who have been targeting Puntland officials.
