Hargeisa (SD) – The results of the long awaited elections in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, and the House of Representatives in the Marodijeh region have been announced.
The current results of the Hargeisa district and the Marodijeh regional assembly will be the last district to be announced in advance, as the preliminary results of all other regions in Somaliland have been announced.
The three main parties competing in the Local elections are led by the Waddani opposition party with 7 members, followed by the Kulmiye party with 6 members and the UCID party with 4 members.

The results of the Hargeisa district council and the Marodijeh region’s House of Representatives have been widely anticipated, as it is the region with the largest number of councillors, representatives and is heavily contested by the political parties.
Opposition parties in Somaliland have won a majority in the House of Representatives for the second time.
Last week’s parliamentary and local elections in Somaliland were closely watched, with more than 1 million registered people voting.
