MOGADISHU (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble met with the Speaker of the Upper House and the Deputy Prime Minister.
In the meeting with the two officials, Roble succeeded in resolving the dispute that led to a recent spate of media briefings.
The meeting reached an agreement on the new election dispute, after a faction led by Abdi Hashi said they had withdrawn and asked the elections be suspended, accusing Roble of looting northern seats.
After the meeting, the Speaker of the Upper House and Mahdi Guled agreed to work together with the Prime Minister to complete the election of members of Parliament from Somaliland.
The speaker of the upper house and the deputy prime minister have been at loggerheads over the election, with Abdi Hashi sharply criticizing Prime Minister Roble.
