CAIRO (SD)-A significant meeting took place in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of security, development, and peace in Somalia.
The leaders discussed supporting reconciliation and economic development efforts in Somalia, acknowledging the country’s delicate phase of rebuilding after years of conflict. The support from Egypt and Saudi Arabia signifies new regional political shifts, aiming to stabilize Somalia and work on development projects. This cooperation is also expected to stimulate Somalia’s economy and assist in building the nation’s governmental institutions.
In a joint statement, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the decision made by the Arab League earlier this year, which emphasizes support for Somalia’s security, stability, unity, and sovereignty. They also stressed the importance of adhering to principles of good neighborliness, promoting peace, and avoiding regional conflicts.
Saudi Arabia is now placing significant importance on Egypt’s involvement in the Somali mission, welcoming Cairo’s continuous efforts to ensure stability and preserve the territorial integrity and unity of Somalia.”
