HARGEISA (SD) – Journalist Abdisalan Ahmed Awad (Abdisalan Germany), a journalist based in Hargeisa, was reportedly arrested today at his home by police.

The journalist’s whereabouts are unknown, and his family is said to be searching for him at a police station in Hargeisa, according to lawmaker Mohamed Abib, calling the arrest illegal.

“It is illegal to hear every day that someone is held in an unknown spot. It is the duty of the security agencies to tell relatives and friends where and why journalist Abdisalam Germany was detained. Family members are still searching for him.” said MP Abib.

It s not yet known why the Journalist was arrested, but on his last post, he prayed for God’s mercy on former Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, and is believed to have led to his arrest.

The journalist has previously strongly opposed President Bihi’s rule, also opposed the arrest of Abdimalik Muse Coldon, posting articles in his defense on Facebook.
