Saylici and Sajin mired in Kulmiye leadership dispute

Hargeisa (SD) – Dispute between Somaliland Vice President Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail (Saylici) and the Minister of Commerce Mohamed Hassan Sa’ad (Sajin) escalated recently due to the minister’s announcement of running for a leadership position in Kulmiye.

Mediation between Somaliland Vice President Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail (Saylici) and the Minister of Commerce Mohamed Hassan Sa’ad (Sajin) who wants to run for the post of the 4th Vice Chairman of the Kulmiye Party, currently held by Mr. Saylici reportedly collapsed, according to Horn of Africa newspaper.

Somaliland President Md. Muse Bihi Abdi and other officials are said to have started mediation between Saylici and Sajin, and the elders wanted to reach an agreement before the Kulmiye party convention scheduled for early next month, which could result in one of them resigning.

However, the latest reports from the Horn of Africa newspaper say that the mediation between the two officials has not yielded any results, after the Vice President and the Minister of Commerce each insisted on their decision.

The vice president argues that his seat cannot be contested, as there is no other seat in the leadership race at the moment, while Minister Sajin argues that he has the right to be elected and elect.

Sajin took it to the airwaves today, justifying his running for the party’s 4th Vice Chairman, also blasting Saylici for not allowing him to run.
