Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland journalists in a meeting today emphasized that it is time to unite independent journalist and those who work for privately own media outlets, yet utilize social media journalist.

“The journalists at the meeting discussed the importance of establishing an association of active online journalists at this time, especially social media writers, as the importance and power of social media has increased in recent times.” said a released statement by the attendees.

The attendees agreed to create an organization that would speak to the needs of the said journalists.

“An organization, which will be officially launched soon, aims to raise the education and awareness of online journalists, advocate for their rights, create interdependence and develop knowledge on how best to serve their communities through Online journalism sites.” Said their statement.

The attending Journalist appealed all journalists to join them for the betterment of their profession.

“For other online the association’s is open to your advice, we welcome it, as it intends to unites us with interests and objectives.” their statement read.

Somaliland social media journalist are also prone to government crack down on journalist.
