MOGADISHU (SD) – At least seven people including combatants and over a dozen others were wounded following fierce fighting between Somali forces and al-Shabaab fighters in Baidoa town in southern Somalia.
According to residents, heavy armed al-Shabaab fighters had stormed two bases belonging to Ethiopian forces under Amisom and Southwest State police.
The attacks started with motor shells fired by al-Shabaab fighters on the bases.
The clashes reportedly happened at the base of Southwest state forces in Suqa locality.
In a statement, al-Shabaab claimed the attacks, saying their fighters killed several government forces.
