Afgoye (SD) – Reports from Afgoye district say that fighting broke out between government forces and Al-Shabaab fighters in the district last night.
The fighting came after al-Shabaab attacked three military bases. The military bases attacked were the Buunda Weyn, Mukayga checkpoint and Haanta Dheer.
Reports say that an hour-long battle broke out between the two sides, which involved the use of various weapons.
The casualties of the fighting are unknown, as it was nighttime and it is difficult to know the exact details.
Al-Shabaab has attacked Afgoye district, 30km from Mogadishu, for the second time, and there has been no attack in Afgoye district since government forces took control of villages under Afgoye.
