Würzburg (SD) – At least three people have been killed and 10 others seriously injured in a knife attack by a 24-year-old Somali man in Würzburg, Germany.

Officials say the man has been undergoing psychiatric treatment in recent days, and a motive for the attack have not been determined.
Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian state security chief, said most of the injured were in critical condition.

“He had a really big knife with him and was attacking people, and then many people tried to throw chairs or umbrellas or cellphones at him and stop him.” A witness told German’s RTL TV.

Police later stopped the attack after the Somali man was shot in the leg, and said he sustained minor injuries.

Television footage shows a Somali man with bare feet, chasing people with a knife. Some footage also showed blood stain on the streets.

The unnamed Somali man has lived in Würzburg since 2015, according to Joachim Herrmann.
