Mogadishu (SD) – Officials from the Somali National Army confirmed the killing of Al Shabab fighters in an operation in areas under Barire in Lower Shabelle and removed landmines on the road between Barire and No.50.

The operation was aimed at ensuring security in the Lower Shabelle region, and the Somali government is working to maintain law and order, according to Officials from the Somali National Army, particularly the 143rd Division, October 14th Battalion.

Somali military officials who spoke to the media in Mogadishu indicated that they would continue security operations.

Somali forces have been conducting operations against al-Shabaab in recent months in Southwest state of Somalia.

The officials from the government forces who spoke to local media did not disclose the casualties of the recent clashes between their forces and Al Shabab.
