Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Federal Government forces have announced that they have captured members of Al-Shabaab after a well-planned operation.

The areas where the forces carried out the operations include Aliyow Baarow, Doonka Aw Gudle, Buusley, Galooy, Harbiga, Warta Mursal, Bulo ay Famey and other areas.

Commander Abdullahi Mustafa Ali Madale Qaran led the operation, accompanied by Commander of the 64th Division 60th Division of the Somali National Army Ali Abdullahi (Halac). Somali military officials say they have captured six al-Shabaab fighters in an operation in the Lower Shabelle region.

They also pointed out that troops burned down al-Shabaab bases, used as prisons and released many prisoners.

Government forces also confirmed seizing a large quantity of weapons and ammunition during the operation.

Al Shabaab has not yet commented on the Somali government forces claim of the latest fighting.
