Mogadishu October 17,2022 (SD) – Somali federal military forces have taken over several areas under Balad district, in the Middle Shabelle region, according to reports.

The government forces pushed Al-Shabaab out in the areas of Yaaqle, Mukadheere, Kgaiow, Koorabe, Shanlow and Farbaraki, all under the Balad district of Middle Shabelle region.

The operation was led by MP Osman Hadole, Karan District Governor Abshir Karan and military officers from the 27th Division, especially the 4th Battalion.

Just a day ago, the army captured Hawadley, a strategic gateway that allowed Al-Shabaab to cross to other regions, according to military officials.

The Middle Shabelle region has been flooded with troops from the Federal Government of Somalia, who are planning a massive offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in that district.
