Hargeisa October 17,2022 (SD) – Somaliland’s main opposition party, Waddani, said Dengue fever hit the people of Somaliland hard, and the government failed to address the outbreak.

Waddani Party spokesperson Barkhad Jama Batuun, speaking to the media today, expressed concerns over the governments handling of the situation, adding that the hospitals are overcrowded and the medicines are expensive.

“You’re reporting that the hospital is full, and people are lying in front of the emergency room, it’s a very painful situation. When you are taken to the hospital, you have to pay for everything” said Batuun.

Spokesman Batuun said that the number of people dying from the fever is high and even his family has been affected.

Dengue fever, spread by mosquitos, is the source of the outbreak and the deaths of unspecified number of citizens in Somaliland.
