Somali journalists protest For The Release of Radio journalist Abuja

Mogadishu (SD) – Somali journalists and media groups converge in the capital Mogadishu asking the gov’t to release jailed journalist Mohamed Abdiwahab Abuja with immediate effect .

Mohamed Abdiwahab Abuja was detained on Feb 27-2020 over facebook post, while the government released Journalist Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye on bail just yeaterday.

On Friday, April the 17th 2020, Somalia’s journalists working in Mogadishu Protested over the Goobjoog Media Group Editor, Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye jailed without Charges by the government Somalia.

On 16th April 2020, Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ), Somali Congress of Trade Union (SOCOTU) and another local press rights groups strongly condemned the unreasonable detention of Goobjoog journalist, Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye and called for immediate release.

This comes after Amnesty International has also demanded the release of freelance journalist Abdimalik Oldon who is currently serving a three-year jail term in Somaliland.
