Wadajir Party Leader: federal gov’t Lied about Bahnano project

Mogadishu (SD) – Government opposition party Wadajir leader, Abdirahman Abdishakur accused the federal government over public fabrication on “Baxnaano” project calming the recently launched program by the President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was not government program.

The project known as “Baxnaano” is funded by the World Bank, WFP and UNICEF, pointing out the president and his government’s failed efforts and lack of commitment in providing basic public services while improving job creation opportunities, livelihoods and the country’s economy.

“Somalia’s president announced government commitment through Baxnaano project which is funded by Aid Agencies aimed to help the Somalia people who are internally displaced and suffering from drought, floods and other natural disasters for them to exit a life of poverty, that was not government commitment,” said Abdirahman Abdishaku, Wadajir party leader.

“The president embarrassed the role of the government; the government must contribute donation, rather than claiming foreign donations, and pretending to be the funder of the project” he added.

Abdishakur also stated that the most important thing for political leadership in countries like Somalia that is recovering from civil war is to tell the people truth and be honest because it is the actions that build the public’s trust in their government, and it enhances the credibility of the ciountry’s leadership.
