Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali military has announced that it has killed two Al-Shabaab leaders in two separate operations in the past few hours.
In the first operation, about 45km west of Baidoa, the capital of Bay region, leader Ibrahim Moalim Abdi alias Geney was killed.
Somali military Officials alleged that Geney oversaw al-Shabaab operations in Baidoa and Bardale districts in Bay region.
In another operation in Jamame district in Lower Jubba region, officials said Aden Yusuf Sheikh Mohamud (Abu-Salman), al-Shabaab’s leader in Jubba regions, was killed.
The second Somali military operation also killed four members of the group who accompanied the Abu-Salman, according to officials.
Al Shabab has reportedly escalated its fighting against Somali military and its allies in the country for the last several months.
