Somali parliament approves Roble government

Muqdisho (SD) – Today’s opening session of the parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia chaired by the speaker of the house, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, unanimously the country’s new cabinet.

The session was attended by 188 lawmakers, aimed at giving confidence to the new cabinet recently appointed by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

The PM delivered a speech at parliament, highlighting the government’s program including security, justice, economic growth, control of Covid-19, protection of human rights and the conduct of the 2020-2021 elections.

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble thanked members of parliament for their vote of confidence, allowing him to speed up the process.

Lawmakers who voted in favor of the new government were approved by 188, with no abstentions, according to council chairman Mohamed Mursal.
Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed administered the oath of office to members of the new cabinet.
