Somali PM and Ambassadors visit flooded regions near Kismayo

KISMAYO (SD) -Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Bare, accompanied by the Ambassadors of Turkey, China, and the United Nations Office in Somalia, visited the areas affected by floods near the city of Kismayo and assessed the extent of the disaster.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Ambassadors for their swift response and immediate arrival in the region, where they saw the impact of the devastation caused by floods.

He highlighted the severity of the damages and the urgent need for assistance for the affected families, many of whom are still stranded, highlighting the necessity for rapid intervention.

Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Bare commended the Jubaland regional government for the efforts made in rescuing and providing assistance to the affected people and expressed concern about the high magnitude of the disaster and its consequences on the lives of the people.

After the visit, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the Ambassadors to discuss further coordination and efforts to address the immediate needs of the affected population, urging the international community to support the relief and recovery efforts.
