MOGADISHU (SD) – The Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has fired Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdirizak exactly a year after Abdirizak appointed for the post.
In a statement, PM Roble appointed Abdisaid Muse Ali to replace Abdirizak who was appointed for the post on 19th November 2021.
Fired Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdirizak said “The story of my replacement is a surprise to me, as much as everyone else but follows my offer of resignation a week ago. I will update everyone in due course but it has been a pleasure to serve the Somali nation and of course wish my replacement all the best.”
The moved follows as the former Foreign Minister of Somalia just yesterday celebrated publicly, his one year anniversary in office.
“It was a year ago today when I was appointed as FM. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve my people. Thanks to our hardworking and dedicated diplomats our voice can be heard and we’re represented well internationally.” tweeted Minister Abdirizak Mohamed.
Somalia’s new foreign minister is a former national security adviser to President Farmajo and recently appointed director of the presidential palace.
The reason for the sacking has not been disclosed.
