Somali police arrest suspects for planting bhang on farm in Mogadishu homestead

MOGADiSHU (SD) – Somali police officers have arrested two suspects weeding a field of the narcotic in a neighbourhood in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Speaking to the media, Howlwadag District Police commissioner Najib Abdi aka Arab said the operation was conducted by officers and found cannabis plants in homestead in Hawlwadag district.

According to the police, about 30 bhang plants and several materials used to roll the substance were found at the house.

“Soldiers were tipped off by the local community. And this has helped us to seize hashish plants in one of the buildings in Tokyo neighborhood and plastic bottles for illicit brew,” said Najib Arab.

According to the commander, detectives are investigating how the suspects managed to plant bhang and if there are other accomplices.

The suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned once investigations are completed.
